Microsoft to Integrate OpenAI's AI Chatbot Technology into Office Tools and Apps

Microsoft is reportedly considering integrating OpenAI's artificial intelligence (AI) chatbot technology into its Office tools and apps. The move would allow users to create emails and other AI-generated texts through simple prompts in apps such as Word, PowerPoint, Outlook, and Bing.

Microsoft has previously announced plans to integrate image-generation software from its Dall-E 2 software into Bing and has also funded OpenAI to the tune of $1bn. OpenAI released its ChatGPT chatbot for public testing in December 2022, with the company claiming the chatbot is able to follow instructions, admit its mistakes, and reject inappropriate requests. However, Microsoft will need to address accuracy and privacy concerns if it is to successfully integrate the AI chatbot into its products.
